We explain the differences:

2.1 systems: The affordable entry into the home theater experience

The most popular are 2.1, 5.1 and 7.1 sound systems. In simple terms, the first number indicates the number of speakers and the second number the number of subwoofers.

You can set up a home theater with a stereo system consisting of two speakers and a subwoofer. This so-called 2.1 system is particularly suitable for people who don't want to go to the expense of setting up their home theater, or for households with space problems. It is not possible to create the surround feeling of the more extensive systems. However, they do represent a noticeable improvement over the sound system provided by a simple TV system.

5.1 systems: The classic among home theater systems

5.1 sound systems already provide a rich home theater sound. This is achieved via two additional speakers that provide sound from the side of your home cinema. 5.1 systems are not only popular with home cinema fans, but also in the gaming scene and with music lovers.

7.1 systems: For acoustics that get under your skin

With a 7.1 sound system, you upgrade the surround sound even further compared to the 5.1 version. This is ensured by two additional speakers that are positioned at the back of the room. 7.1 systems are among the most comprehensive, but also among the most atmospheric systems for your home theater.
