Connection technology
You should know these connection types
There are very different types of connections. This is due to the fact that the electrical connections have to meet very specific requirements depending on the type of signals to be transmitted - from amperage and voltage level to mechanical protection of the contacts. The selection of plugs and connectors on the market is correspondingly large. It is not easy to keep track of everything.
We have summarized for you which connections should not be missing in your conference room:
- Power connection: There should ideally be several of these, e.g. to charge the laptop battery or supply the display with power
- HDMI connection: the standard for image transmission. This allows laptops and computers to be connected to a monitor.
- VGA connection: now rather outdated. However, older laptops in particular often still use a VGA connection. Therefore, this should at least be considered for the presentation of older devices.
- USB port: useful for charging the smartphone, for example, or for transferring presentations directly via the USB stick.
- Network connection: required for Internet access.
- Audio connection: important if sound is to be transmitted.
The right connection panels for your connection technology
There are various connection panels in the conference area. A basic distinction is made here between floor, table and wall connection panels. However, a further distinction can also be made:
Floor connection panel
Bottom connection panels are usually located in bottom tanks. This is an element embedded in the floor that can be closed with a lid and can be opened and closed when in use or not in use. Floor boxes are almost invisible when closed. The cable routing runs via ducts in the floor.
As an alternative to the classic floor tank, floor columns are also available. Although these are by no means invisible, they are visually appealing and optionally available as mobile units.
Table connection panel
The classic version of the table connection panel is the table tank, which can be sunk into the conference table. A hole is cut in the table and the connection panel is inserted into it. Table tanks are available in different versions: to pull out, to fold out or to slide open. Desktop tanks offer sufficient space for connection cables, which can be integrated directly into the connection panel. When closed, they are hardly noticeable and save space.
Table connection panels can also be retrofitted without any problems. Such attachable table connection panels are usually mounted on the edge of the tabletop and hardly take up any space. Special under-desk constructions are also available as an option.
The last variant of the table connection panels are plug-in media sockets. Here, too, a hole is cut into the table so that the connection panel can be inserted into it. The major advantage of the media box is its great flexibility. It can be rotated through 360 degrees and is ideal for meetings where several people are sitting around a table.
Wall connection panel
Wall connection panels are comparable to a socket outlet, with the difference that not only one power connection is used here, but all types of connections. The cables are laid either under the plaster or via trunking that is mounted on the wall. Wall-mounted connection panels offer a great deal of freedom, as they can in principle be installed in any area of the conference room.
Each connection panel can be equipped with all kinds of connections in a wide variety of combinations. We will be happy to advise you on the optimum combination for your connection technology.
Wireless signal transmission: Connection technology without tangled cables
The wireless signal transmission is even more convenient than the connection via connection panels. This allows you to connect your PC or laptop to the projector or monitor without any cables. Modern, encrypted wireless transmission systems ensure stable signal transmission. The connection is usually made via a wireless HDMI transmitter and receiver. These allow data transmission via radio. The major advantage is the complete avoidance of cumbersome cabling, which is particularly practical for wall-mounted monitors. Some devices also allow several receivers to be connected to the transmitter simultaneously, such as a TV and a beamer.
Brand new: The Comperiversum BYOD-USB-C One Cable Solution
With increasing digitalization, more and more companies, schools and universities are taking advantage of the possibility of using their own mobile devices; They use the option of integrating employees', pupils' and students' own mobile devices into the respective communication networks on a system-wide and software-independent basis. In technical jargon, this process is also referred to as „BYOD“. The abbreviation stands for „Bring Your Own Device“, in German: „Bring your own device.“
Connecting a BYOD device to the company's internal technology can sometimes turn out to be a highly complex undertaking. There are often a number of things that need to be done before the transfer can take place, from downloading and installing the necessary software to obtaining administrator rights.
We at ComPeri have a solution to this problem: the Comperiversum BYOD-USB-C One Cable Solution. This enables users to access the entire conference room technology independently of software and in the shortest possible time and to operate it easily and intuitively. Curious to find out more? We will be happy to provide you with more information about our unique BYOD solution!
