If you want the opportunity to present something to large groups of people in the conference room, you need to consider sooner or later whether a beamer or a display would be the best choice. In principle, both models are suitable for conference room and presentation technology, but which format best suits your requirements? To be able to make a well-considered decision, you need to take a few aspects into account.
Projector vs. display: the size of the room is decisive
One of the most important points when choosing a presentation medium is the size of the room. Depending on the room size, you can calculate how large the presentation area can and should be. The distance between the first row of the audience and the screen and the general room size are particularly important.
Depending on the required size of the screen, either a display or a projector is more suitable. As a general rule, the larger the display area, the more suitable a projector is. Displays only have a limited image diagonal available, whereas projectors can display larger image areas much more easily. In addition, large displays can be very expensive and projectors for large areas are therefore convincing due to their price-performance ratio.
Lighting conditions – an important factor in the selection
The room in which you want to use the selected device plays a major role in its selection. Not only the size, but also the lighting conditions determine which form of presentation technology is more suitable. The brighter the room, the more suitable a display is. This is far less sensitive to light than a projector.
Consider whether it is possible to darken the room if necessary and whether you need to do this every time. If you only want to show something briefly once without much effort, a display is probably better suited as it can create a clearer image than a projector even during the day in high light conditions.
Display or projector: interactivity wanted?
Nowadays, touch displays are becoming increasingly popular. Especially in conference rooms and during meetings, the convenient and fast operation via touch is a great advantage. But displays have also become a valuable medium in schools.
There they function both as a presentation medium and as a blackboard. Interactivity with other participants - whether in the classroom or in the conference room - is encouraged by the touch function. If you are interested in this, you must therefore opt for a display, as projectors are not suitable for this purpose.
Holding jet sets and presentations?
Another factor that must be taken into account in the selection process is mobility. Is it just a single conference room where you want to hold presentations or are there different conference rooms? If, for example, you are often on the road and need to give presentations at different locations, a projector is ideal for this. It impresses with its mobility and can easily be taken on a plane, in the car or on foot.
Even if you frequently change rooms within a building and there is no form of presentation technology everywhere, a projector is a good choice. Although there is often a desire to equip all rooms with suitable conference room technology, this is often difficult to achieve due to the high costs involved.
The question of costs is also relevant regardless of mobility. Projectors are on average cheaper than displays. Therefore, if the other factors are right and it is a question of cost, a projector is probably the better choice. However, you should also bear in mind that the display requires less maintenance in the long term.
