Ultrawide describes monitors that are very wide compared to their height. These often work with an aspect ratio of 21:9 instead of the classic ratio of 16:9. They are often also referred to as widescreen monitors. By placing different windows next to each other on one screen, they create the visual effect of having two screens next to each other. However, there is no dividing line between the two monitors and instead just one wide workspace.
Special case: the ultrawide curved monitor
In addition to a regular ultrawide monitor, there are now also special curved monitors. This means that the screen is not only very wide, but also curved. The advantage of this type of screen is that the eyes do not have to work at different distances from the edges. This leads to an immersive result, as glare and reflections are also reduced. One disadvantage of a curved monitor, however, is that you have to sit directly in front of the screen to use it. sideways use is not possible.
